Apparently there are many types of photography. This is something that I had not really considered before. I usually just photograph what I like or what I want to remember. However, it is always good to look and broaden horizons.
There is fashion/glamour photography that deals with clothes, accessories and modeling. Fashion photography shows clothes in beautiful settings and captures the imagination. Glamour photography is more about getting the picture of the model in different situations, like Ms. April in playboy.
Still life photography where you capture subjects grouped together to form a composition. Wedding photography is about capturing the groom and bride in memorable and romantic pictures, but maybe with a little more interesting setting. There is also Nature/Wildlife photography. I would think that capturing the moment on film would require great timing and patients.
Photojournalism you have in a category by itself. It is using pictures to report on current events. Where the picture captures the moment of the event, the story is what explains the events leading up to the moment. The story will be the explanation of the reaction of picture captured.
These are just a few of the types that caught my eye. Maybe you can find some and let me know what they are. Even better tell me what you think of the ones I liked.
