Digital photography is generous with its versatility…

You may be wondering what do I mean by that. I will explain. Digital pictures are a canvas that you can use your computer to put a more artistic stamp on your photos. With the right software, you become the master of your photography (well that depends on how well you know the software). Today, I wanted to run through some choices you have for a photo editor.

When I say run through, I mean they get a sentence or two. First up, Gimp2 is a powerful editor that can stand up to Adobe. You not only can edit photos, but create graphics that can be used anywhere. The draw back is it might be more power than an average person would need. Next, Corel Paint Shop Photo Pro X3. This software also has a lot going for it. It is pretty powerful when processing your photos, but goes way beyond when you start getting serious. I have made icons, web graphics and other things that turned out well. It is also a little more user friendly than the Gimp2, but not free like Gimp.

The final contestant here is Picasa 3. I have to say I love it. Its easy, free, and I can get effects that look good. See what I did to a random wedding photo I had.

Before the picture was in color and all you saw was the lady adding decorations to the arch. However after putting the black and white filter on it, you see the light playing on the grass and chairs. Wow, I could not have been more surprised. So try them, try them I say. Winking smile Maybe let me know what you thought.
